Yes, you read that right. The Republicans have been handed on a golden platter what should be the most easily winnable mid-term election in decades, but they’re going to lose if I don’t send them $15 immediately. Despite the fact that the President of the United States is a senile, drooling idiot, regardless of the Democrats pouring the gasoline of the “Inflation Reduction Act” on an already out-of-control inflation fire, every text message I receive from Republican operatives declares “we’re losing.”
This from Kevin McCarthy: “I’M FURIOUS. WE'RE ABOUT TO LOSE. AGAIN.
TONIGHT is the FINAL QUARTERLY DEADLINE before Election Day- if we miss our goal- PELOSI WINS. AGAIN.”
Another message from an unidentified Trump operative: “WE LOST IN 2018.
WE FAILED IN 2020.
And at the current rate - WE'RE GOING TO FAIL AGAIN!”
All of this is part and parcel of election campaigns, but with this level of upbeat messaging, is it no surprise that some Republicans may decide to stay home? After all, why waste time voting for losers?
Perhaps Republican fortunes would change if they come out with some policy prescriptions better than the vague bullet points released a few weeks ago by Kevin McCarthy in his current version of a “contract with America.”
Instead of vague concepts, perhaps Republicans should spell out some specific policies and legislation they’d enact if they take control of the House and Senate.
For that, I’d send them $15.
